The Race Team

The Race Team competes in regattas throughout the school year and practices 2 times a week at the Lake Lanier Sailing Club. Any undergraduate student at UGA can join the Race Team.

The Race Team caters to a wide range of sailing experience levels... whether you grew up sailing or have never sailed before, there is a spot for everyone in the UGA community on the Race Team. We do not hold tryouts and our team has all the resources necessary to teach new members from the ground up, therefore, no experience is required.

At the Lake Lanier Sailing Club, we have access to 10 C420s and all the resources we need to conduct full-on practices to help prepare our members for the competitive regatta experience.
Competitive College Sailing is unique because the competitions (regattas) are co-ed. Among the competitiveness of the sport, the College Sailing community promotes and encourages a friendly social atmosphere among the other teams. Making new friends from other schools at regattas is a very frequent occurrence. Being a member of our Race Team will be hard work, but a very rewarding experience.

The Offshore Team

Our newest program within UGA Sailing, our offshore team practices and races keelboats competitively on Lake Lanier and across the east coast.

Similar to the dinghy race team, no experience is required for the offshore team. We'll teach you everything you need to know to get on board.
